Legislation

The Maryland Sportsmen's Foundation was proud to help introduce some important legislation to the 2022-2023 session. Senator Sarah Elferth and Senator Jack Bailey were instrumental in producing and sponsoring Senate Bill 327, Hunting Wildlife Conservation, Outdoor Recreation - Funding, Promotion, Management, Licenses, Permits, and Stamps (SB327/HB983) as Senator Elferth stated....This Omnibus legislation makes several critical changes to our wildlife conservation and outdoor recreation policy in Maryland, including 1) Generating $6.8M for wildlife conservation through targeted increases in license and stamp fees (supported by the hunting community); 2) Utilizing that increase funding to expand DNR's Wildlife Conservation, Education, and Outreach program; and 3) Requiring DNR and the Department of Agriculture to develop better management tools to address the overpopulation of deer.
